Purpose-Built for HG2 and Special-Threat Protection
The CASTLE12 HG2 SAT is a rigid ballistic plate developed for law-enforcement and professional users who require enhanced protection against high-velocity handgun and selected 5.7×28mm threats.
The product uses the current NIJ HG2 designation while retaining Level IIIA in parentheses for compatibility with the former NIJ terminology. In addition to its HG2 handgun-protection profile, the plate has been independently evaluated against specified threats including 5.7×28mm FN SS190, SS191 and SS197SR.
Under the current NIJ framework, HG2 replaces the former Level IIIA designation. The SAT designation should be treated as a CASTLE12 product-series designation rather than an official NIJ protection level.
Advanced SiC–TiB₂ Ceramic Composite Construction
The plate incorporates an advanced SiC–TiB₂ ceramic composite ballistic structure, developed to balance protection, thickness and operational weight.
Its 18mm thin-profile construction helps reduce bulk inside a plate carrier and supports a more compact equipment configuration for prolonged wear and dynamic operations.
Edge-to-Edge Protection
An edge-to-edge protective design maximizes the usable protective area of the plate instead of concentrating the primary ballistic structure only within the center section.
This construction is intended to provide consistent coverage across a greater portion of the plate while maintaining a practical profile for law-enforcement and professional applications.
Independently Tested in the United States
Ballistic testing was conducted by Element U.S. Space & Defense.
Element’s Belcamp, Maryland facility specializes in ballistic experimentation involving ammunition and protective systems and operates dedicated ballistic-testing facilities.
