SiC + UHMWPE Composite, Stand-Alone Configuration
The CASTLE12 RF2+ combines silicon carbide (SiC) with a UHMWPE composite and features a single-curve profile.
Each hard armor plate weighs 2.5 kg and is 2.7 cm thick.
Designed for stand-alone use, the RF2+ does not require additional soft armor backing.
Each set includes two ballistic plates, with a combined plate weight of 5 kg.
Before selecting a plate carrier, confirm that its plate pockets accommodate the 25 × 30 cm plate dimensions and 2.7 cm thickness.
Ballistic Testing at Element U.S. Space & Defense
The CASTLE12 RF2+ underwent special-threat testing at Element U.S. Space & Defense in the United States.
Two separate plate samples were used:
one plate received five 7.62 × 51 mm M80A1 shots, while another plate received three 5.56 × 45 mm M995 shots.
The velocities below reproduce the per-shot Avg. Vel. values in the test records.
Metric velocities are conversions rounded to one decimal place.
7.62 × 51 mm M80A1 — Five-Shot Test
