SiC + UHMWPE Composite Construction
The CASTLE12 RF3++ combines a silicon carbide (SiC) ceramic strike face with an ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) composite backing structure.
The plate features a single-curve profile and measures 25 × 30 × 3.2 cm, with a weight of 3.2 kg per plate.
It is designed as a stand-alone ballistic plate and does not require additional soft armor backing.
Ballistic Testing at Element U.S. Space & Defense
The CASTLE12 RF3++ underwent ballistic testing at Element U.S. Space & Defense in the United States.
The test threat was:
.30-06 caliber, 166-grain APM2
Required test velocity:
2880 ± 30 ft/s
A total of six shots were fired, with no penetration recorded.
